Type data   Holotype (pr: H 20.0 mm, L 18.5 mm, D 5.0 mm) The Natural History Museum, London (BMNH 1887.2.9.3280). Type locality: Mid Southern Ocean, E of Marion Island, 46*46'S, 45*31'E, 2515 m, ?alive, globigerina ooze, 29.xii.1873 ("Challenger" stn 146).

  Shell up to ca. 30 mm high, thin, semi-transparent, inflated, higher than wide, strongly commarginally equally undulated, left valve somewhat more convex than right valve, slightly oblique, subequivalve, inequilateral, auricles unequal in size and shape, umbonal angle ca. 90 degrees, colour whitish.

  Left and right valve with ca. 12-14 commarginal undulations and overrunning closely spaced delicate radial threads. Auricles with reticulated sculpture, continuous with disc, anterior auricle of right valve demarcated from disc.

Byssal notch deep, byssal fasciole rather broad, ctenolium obsolete.



Boreal Atlantic to Southern Ocean, E of Marion Island (TL)

Habitat   Living abyssally on soft bottom assemblages.
