Description

  Shell up to ca. 70mm high, solid, rather compressed, right valve slightly more convex than left valve, subcircular, somewhat higher than long, nearly equivalve and subequilateral, auricles short and nearly equal, umbonal angle ca. 90 degrees, colour orange with darker and paler radial streaks and dots, right valve paler.

  Both valves sculptured with ca. 35 regularly spaced, very low and broad rounded lirae with narrow interspaces. Closely spaced commarginal microsculpture throughout. Auricles with very weak radial threads. Defined internal rib carinae. Byssal notch, byssal fasciole and functional ctenolium lacking.

Habitat

  Living sublittorally in crevices or amongst rubble on sand.
