Type data   Holotype (pr: H 31.1 mm, L 31.2 mm, D 8.7 mm) Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris (MNHN Mol. 23879). Type locality: French Polynesia, Society Islands, Tahiti, NNW-coast, Arue, ocean-side of barrier reef, 17*30'S, 149*31'W, 60 m, alive, dive, 2008.

  Shell up to c. 35 mm high, weakly inflated,almost equally convex, circular(immature shells) to slightly elongate (mature shells), strongly inequivalve, nearly equilateral, auricles unequa in shape and sizel, umbonal angle c. 90-100 degrees, colourpale orange or yellowish with reddish maculations.

  Left valve sculptured with 7 radial plicae with curved scales, secondaryradial riblets in interspaces. Right valve with 6 radial plicae with closely spaced imbricated scales. Auricles weakly commarginal microsculptured. Byssal notch moderately deep, byssal fasciole narrow. Functional ctenolium on suture (c. 6 teeth). Internal rib plicae, delicate carinated near ventral margin.

Habitat  Living sublittorally amongst coral rubble on sandy bottoms.
