Type data

  Holotype (pr: H 6.8 mm, L 6.7 mm) Musˇum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris (MNHN, not registered). Type locality: E Atlantic, N of Bay of Biscay, 47*32.8'N, 08*35'W, 2126 m, alive, 01.ii.1974 ("Jean Charcot", BIOGAS IV stn DS 63).

Description

  Shell up to ca. 7 mm high, fragile, semi-transparent, subcircular, weakly inflated, nearly equally convex, nearly equivalve and equilateral, auricles nearly equal in size, unequal in shape, internal ribs lacking, umbonal angle ca. 115 degrees, colour whitish.

  Left valve and right valve with widely spaced commarginal lamellae. Radial sculpture lacking. Posterior auricles nearly continuous with disc. Anterior auricle of right valve demarcated and sculptured with prominent commarginal lamellae.

Byssal notch relatively deep, byssal fasciole and ctenolium lacking.

Distribution

 

 

W Scotland, SW Ireland, Bay of Biscay (TL)

Habitat  Living lower bathyally and abyssally on soft bottom assemblages.
